April 12th - SSRRC Fun Day Our Florida Ridgeback club had it's spring fun event at Ft. DeSoto beach this past weekend. The weather was GORGEOUS, as spring in Florida is, and a great time was had by all! Well...almost! I took Strider and Sachi, and well, they're "take" on swimming in the ocean was, well......less than enthusiastic, to say the least! Our friends, Steve and Melody were there with their two dogs, Missy and her son, Samson. Missy loves, loves, LOVES the water and swimming!! They weren't sure how Samson would do...this was his first trip! At 5 months old, he quickly followed in his mom's footsteps and is a water lovin' fool, too!! Strider's brother, Hunter, enjoys swimming a lot and is the social butterfly of the dog beach! His dad takes him there a lot, and he loves romping around and meeting all the other dogs that are there.
Strider gamely came in the water,
if I was in it.....and that's the best I can say for my two!!
Sachi just stood on the sand looking miserable, with that pleading
look...."Can we just go HOME?!!!" Yep.....she'd rather be out
in the woods chasing squirrels....which is exactly what she's doing
right now as I write this!!
A REAL "FEEL GOOD" MOMENT!!!!
I reported a couple of days ago
that Gage has been adopted and has settled in nicely in his new
home. We had so many people call about him, that I thought
we'd share some photos with his new family. We knew he was
a "man's man" in his previous home........looks like things will
continue the same way! Leave it up to a Ridgeback to take over
home and hearts in a single day!!
DOG SHOW FUN!! Well....we don't have any point brags for the weekend...but we sure had a great time enjoying our gorgeous Florida spring weather and playing with our friends! We had majors both days and Baraka went Reserve on Saturday, and his son, Gaius, went Reserve on Sunday. Two of Baraka's daughters, Fergie and Sheba made their show debut and did not embarrass us at all! It was great practice and confidence builder for them! They're winning days are sure to come!!

OK...so what's up with THIS picture?? It's none other than the NAKED COWBOY! This was our girls' day out in NYC in October, 2001. We had great fun riding the trains, going thru Grand Central Station, Central Park and seeing the sights. And speaking of sights...right there... right smack dab in the middle of Time Square - THERE HE WAS! In ALL HIS GLORY! Tally, Savannah and Zoe Alexandra sure had fun checking out his assets. It's a good thing George is a great sport!! HEY...they don't call these dogs SIGHTHOUNDS for nothing!! and wait 'til you see what else we have in store for your entertainment!! STAY TUNED!!!
